Round ones... OK. I'm not prepared to give a well-researched answer, mainly because the instrument just arrived yesterday. The first three courses are gut, and the rest are nylgut core, copper wound. Probably lute strings.
Today I took it to the Edinburgh International Harp Festival to see if anyone there knew about it, but I couldn't find anyone. The Edward Light instructions mention a red string and a black string. These will be familiar to harp payers, where C is red, and F is black, sometimes blue. So, if anyone has solid evidence, please let me know.
