Hi Nigel,

I don't know of any plans for such a lute, but scaling things is not difficult with a photocopier! You just need to remember to redraw the string band (width across the strings at nut and bridge) and consequently neck widths and pegbox, otherwise they will be too small. For a 6c lute, the neck width needs to be about 45mm at the nut and 60mm at the body join. String band at the bridge should be about 75mm.

Er - my A lute is still for sale, if you're interested.....

Best wishes,

Martin

Does anyone know where I might find plans to build an alto lute (in A, around 54 cm string length). Surfing the net there seem to be quite a few for 60 cm lutes but not for any small instruments. I don't think my skills would be up to scaling larger plans down. Any ideas?

Nigel
