The photo is filched. The first face to appear is the young Suzanne
Bloch (the photo was taken by her composer father in 1926). To her
right in her sister Lucienne and to her left is her mother and
cellist Alexander Barjansky.
Don't you mean our right or her left?
Parts of this piece sound very Japanese to me, very koto-like.
Well done Stuart! Nice interpretation.
Thanks Ed. I'm left-handed and I still get muddled with left and right.
I think it is a fascinating photo. Marguerite looks a bit sad and
uncomfortable and avoids eye contact with the camera (held by her
husband). The other three are 'well up for it' (i.e. having their
photograph taken), Barjansky is saying something and gesturing towards
the camera. Suzanne, I thought at first looks quietly confident but the
eyebrows and the hand with two fingers clenched maybe suggests she
isn't. Lucianne is striking a great pose. There is a another photo,
taken by Suzanne, of Lucianne with a large guitar-lute in 1927.
