Hi, welcome to the lute world. I also have an EMS lute. There has been some criticism of them ,but I am happy with mine. I adjusted the nut a little as it was rather high (I had done this on guitars so it was not difficult) You might want to get peg dope which is what violinists use to help the pegs turn but stop at the right point. Tuning is quite a skill, so you will learn patience! I have had the lute about three years and slowly got to learn its personality. My suggestion for the first few weeks is to keep it very simple and easy. I remember that I tried to play the lute music I knew on guitar. But no... all the distances were different for both hands and it was frustrating . I soon found it was a better use of time to learn play the very easiest pieces possible Also I deliberately 'cheated' and used single string basses for a few weeks, just to avoid too many tuning difficulties. I hope you enjoy your new instrument and feel free to ask questions. You might also try http://lutegroup.ning.com/ which is quite active __________________________________________________________________
