Hello everyone,

I've been on the list for quite some time, but have switched e-mails / or been "lurking" and not actually writing. (I like to soak up the info!) ;-) - However, I have a question / issue I've been trying to work through. - I've been interested in composing my own Lute or "Lute style" music for both playing on Lute and Spanish Classical Guitar. I want to typeset it in a way that is readable by both Lute and Guitar players.

The question that I really am asking, is... Are there any really easy typesetting programs for Linux (designed for lute). I spent quite a bit of time last night trying to figure out the Tab program, after about 2 hours I got part of a composition down, but I got extremely frustrated and tired.

Are there any other options? - or are my Lute versions of my composition doomed for ASCII plain text?

BTW - My name is Joshua, I am about to turn 29, and I am from Texas. (I might be remembered faintly ;-) ) My day job is working as a webmaster for a local church. I am more of an intermediate Guitar player who has an extreme fascination and love with the Lute and other early stringed instruments (the lute especially). As much as I dream to own a lute, I am in essence very poor, and this may never happen. I currently play off of a modest 30/35 year old Classical Guitar from Mexico and a small Cordoba Guilele for higher pitched playing.

Thanks,

Josh
