Hi Wayne Here in Provence the winter can be pretty dry too, especially when the mistral wind is blowing (although it's pouring with rain right now!). I try to avoid aggressive detergents (some washing-up liquids, for example, can really lead to callous skin). Drinking enough water is a priority. When the skin on my right-hand fingers gets rough (as it inevitably does at this time of year) I use a very light-grained emery paper to remove dead hard skin and a silica based hand cream (which is not oily) followed by a sprinkling of Venice talc. I couldn't imagine playing with any sort of band-aid. I presume you already wear gloves to protect your hands outdoors. Best Matthew
