That is quite common in French baroque music too.
Well, there is certainly very little voice leading in the courantes and voltes.
These are obviously in style brisé.
What I meant is that we sometimes analyse the music with too much of an
anachronistic vertical harmonic filter which leads to neglecting a horizontal
reading.
Has anybody read that article about Vallet's left hand fingering?
