TABLATUUR, N°113, May 2017 (translation)
Isbin has for long been planning to write this book. His study of the
counterpoint has led to a number of compositions, inspired by the
contrapuntal species: 1 note against 1, 2 notes to 1, with syncopations
etc.
Theoretically this can be quite complicated but he succeeded to write some
interesting pieces.
It has always been Isbin’s intention to write original, melodic and
accessible music. There are tempo indications, but they are not mandatory.
He advises to play the pieces at your own tempo (not much composers suggest
this! ). Surprise yourself with the interplay of dissonances and
consonants. Some of these compositions will be featured on the new Stathis
Skandalidis CD

With kind regards,

Met vriendelijke groeten,

Bien cordialement,
Gilbert Isbin
