Funny you should draw the comparison. I’m always telling my residents It’s called the practice of surgery because you should always be thinking how you can do it better next time.
I also saw him play in the 1970’s with a half lute/half guitar program at Massey Hall in Toronto. I remember someone in the front row was so fascinated by the lute and his technique that they partially climbed on stage to get a better look from bellow. Bream stopped playing and gently asked him to get back in his seat.
