Hi, all. I remember being told some time ago, by someone who should have known, that one of the early German greats (Gerwig, Schaeffer, or Dombois, but I think Gerwig) used that stringing, but I both can't remember and don't know if it was from historical precedent (I doubt it) or simple personal preference (probably, as Jean-Marie posits above). It's not that long ago, I suspect someone will remember, or will be able and interested enough to figure it out from recordings. Best, and keep playing. Chris.
