I do on occasion. I have a huge 10-course in D 78cm or something similar). Sometimes I chicken out and play transposed parts. If the D-lute stint is a bit longer I bite the bullet and play at pitch. Not so difficult (but I play easy continuo on it: early Italian music), no complicated high baroque.
