FWIW I've been running it on my work laptops for /home since January 
2009 (pre-mainline kernel merge) and haven't had a problem (yet) with it.

That does not mean it will be pain free for others, I don't use any 
features like snapshots, subvolumes, etc and it's done well by me so far.
