Hi All,

I have been travelling this week and I have found Motels with Free WiFi
for their patrons, and they supply a password.

I have a WiFi connection at home for which I use a password, and it
works. I can create a WiFi Hotspot with my Android phone and it has
worked as well.

Although the password is correct for the Motel networks I cannot login
my SuSe 12.1 notebook. My Android phone can access the network with the
password, so I thought it may be a protocol problem. I changed the
password protocol in the notebook to WPA2 from WEP. Now I can't receive
from my Android nor the Motel network, nor the Telstra Wifi hotspot
(Sierra Wireless WiFi 4G 9720). My Android phone can see and connect to
the Telstra Hotspot, and then I USB tether to my notebook, running
OpenSuse 12.1

Initially I was using the Network Manager, but I couldn't change the
protocol, so I switched to the ifup system, but then I screwed
everything.

What settings should I be looking for and what is an acceptable default
for a Wireless connection?
Should I select IPV6 or not?
I have DHCP selected

Many thanks

Andrew Greig
