No, it's not dead /really/ -- it sure isn't getting extra features and improvements in file store is one that I really want, but it still gets updates. I would much prefer Maildir storage on my local machine and not just on the server, instead I have mbox storage locally which can be painful with large mail boxes (folders with heaps of emails). My TB is 17.0.4 whilst my FX is 19.0.2 -- they are both as update as they can be on being on the "release update channel". If something major is fixed in Firefox, then it WILL filter through to TB.
