If you are an Emacs user, you could try Emacs diary, which can import/export icalendar format as supported by Google and others. I use Remind for this purpose, but I don't need to associate it with another calendar, hence its lack of in-built icalendar support doesn't stand in my way. I am reasonably confident that there are scripts available to convert in both directions though.
