My own workstation has 2 LUKS encrypted partitions with BTRFS RAID-1 running 
on top of it.  Everything is fine although it is a little annoying having to 
enter the password twice (once for each device).

Booting is no problem.  Performance is fine, LUKS has so little overhead that 
typical benchmarks won't even show it up.
