One (different) point to mention is that static IPs now cost $10 extra
for most NBN providers.
Tangerine is still offering static IPv4s
https://www.tangerinetelecom.com.au/help/do-i-get-a-static-ip-address-with-my-nbn-connection
but their support might not be as good as the other larger players.

APNIC has run out of easy IPv4 addresses (see below) and strictly
rationing the rest so IPv4's have to be brought on the
open market from a broker
(https://www.apnic.net/manage-ip/manage-resources/transfer-resources/transfer-facilitators/)
.

This http://ipv4marketgroup.com/ipv4-pricing/ was suggesting $18 (US?) per IP.

Anyway for what it's worth I'm thinking of switching to IPv6 for my
static IP needs when NBN gets connected to my place.
