There were several comments about that on Reddit.  Some responses were that 
people had tried it and not noticed any reported temperature difference 
(server fans are powerful and convection isn't) and that if you suck in air 
from near the floor you get more dust.

Also if you have it front side up then the flanges at the front are at the top 
so they can rest on brackets.
