It's been almost 3.5 hrs since Tom Whitten replied to this and it has not shown up here. Here's what he had to say:
[i]metasync does not wait for the resyncs to finish before exiting. It merely gets them started. Todd, why do you care about the resync completing before proceeding. The SVM mirror is functional and usable while the resync is in progress.
