Sorry if this is an already covered topic, but what is the
limitation to the number of metasets ? We have been using metasets
with zones (one metaset per zone with the disk devices on a small SAN)
to facilitate moving a zone between hosts if necessary. We have not
had any trouble until we created the 11th metaset. The metaset appears
to have been created (metaset -s <setname> and metastat -s <setname>
show the metaset), but when we try to do any i/o to the device we get
an i/o error. Format can see the device and a format -> verify shows
the expected partitioning for a metaset, so the device is fine. The
metaset lists both hosts attached to this SAN as associated with the
metaset (so the device isn't in use outside of a metaset).

I remember reading _somewhere_ that there is a limit to both
the number of disk devices per metaset and to the number of metasets.
There was a kernel parameter (in a device driver config file IIRC)
that could be adjusted to increase the number of metasets.
Unfortunately, a quick look through the Volume Managment Admin Guide
and SunSolve have not yielded the information I am looking for. I
figured this crowd would know where I could find this information.

        Thanks in advance.

P.S. The 'SAN' is an SE-3511 single attached to three T2000
servers. Not a very big SAN at all :-) One Logical Drive (and it's
partitions) is visible to two of the T2000s via FC0; a second Logical
Drive (and partitions) is visible to the third T2000 via FC1.
Eventually we will be adding a fourth host, sharing the second LD with
the third T2000 via FC1.
