All very good points... I agree about the heartbeat package, however, it's not up to me to employ it. I just try and make our systems work the best I can. So what is it in the hearbeat package that process the gratuitous arp. Is the ping commands like you mentioned?
I'm wondering if there might be a way to simulate heartbeat's actions with some kind of script. any ideas?
