Hi , I got direct routing setup , and I use iptables with the cluster adress to make the machine accept incoming trafic.
iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -d <cluster adress> -j REDIRECT If I put the adress on the loopback , the server can't call the load balancer/ cluster address ... since all traffic goes to loopback . It works like a charm, however in my app, the backend servers can call each other , ( via cluster adress ), this also works like a charm, except for the case where a server is calling a service on itself via the cluster adress. It seems the return trafic gets lost, and I have been hard at it trying to find a solution .... I guess I have something similar as DNAT on the same network .... Does anybody have any ideas ? The only thing I have thought of is changing the ip of a packet incoming to the machine ... based on mac ... to the IP of the machine, this in not however easily done . I'm going off to try to log dropped packets since tcpdump & wireshark doesn't give me anything funky.
