Have you checked the statistics? If not, have a look at the various 'err' members of the below the global 'lwip_stats.mem' or one of the 'lwip_stats.memp' array members. If you have a real memory problem (i.e. not a snd_queuelen or snd_buf limitation), you should find the limiting resource there.
