unrelated to the patches, fyi: i've done an alternative template for 
debian using debconf that ask things interactively (or, using preseeded 
information). i'll post about it when finished (there's some polishing 
for cosmetics left).

since the differences between debian releases are, wrt/ to container 
creation, only minimal, i think it's better to avoid the duplication of 
the full script and cover all supported releases in one script.
