As I replied on the libvirt-users mailing list, you need 'lxc-tools' here rather than just 'lxc'. or future reference, with questions about libvirt it is preferrable to just use the the libvirt-users mailing list, since the developers on this list aren't typically familiar with details of libvirt's implementation and so this just creates noise for them.
