I've not tried it in LXDE yet, but I too have linked to the blog post you cite, on the Ubuntu-sounder mailing list. GNOME's vertical-panel handling is a real pain. I am now using an Xfce panel on my GNOME desktop to get a working vertical task list. It's still not great but it's better than GNOME's. As widescreens get more common, this will get more important. It's amusing to note that Windows 7 handles a vertical taskbar significantly less well than any previous version of Windows, even Vista. So if you can get it working better in LXDE, great! -- Liam Proven • Profile: http://www.linkedin.com/in/liamproven Email: [email protected] • GMail/GoogleTalk/Orkut: [email protected] Tel: +44 20-8685-0498 • Cell: +44 7939-087884 • Fax: + 44 870-9151419 AOL/AIM/iChat/Yahoo/Skype: liamproven • LiveJournal/Twitter: lproven MSN: [email protected] • ICQ: 73187508 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ OpenSolaris 2009.06 is a cutting edge operating system for enterprises looking to deploy the next generation of Solaris that includes the latest innovations from Sun and the OpenSource community.
