Hi,
I am/was running lxpanel 0.5.x on a 10 year old 300Mhz Gentoo netbook.
Main performance killer is the cpu graph, after disabling it, there
was noticable lower load in top and it performed well. But that was
the thing in 0.4.x too.
Maybe a different disk scheduler also helps. (Old/bad) laptop disks
are often performing better with anticipatory than cfq (at least my
machines), but that is more generic.
I have not noticed performance changes between 0.4 and 0.5.
Cheers
Archibald Haddock
