That's...

i never used htop, but using free (that i think to be more specific now)
show that:

nu...@suse-laptop:~> free -m
             total       used       free     shared    buffers     cached
Mem:          3996       2016       1980          0         76       1615
-/+ buffers/cache:        323       3672
Swap:         2047          0       2047

that means,
of first view, used ram looks to be 2016 (that is actually the amount of
ram with data on it)

but, the REAL used ram is only 323MB because from the value 2016 you
have to remove 76MB (buffers) and 1625MB (cache)
