FYI: Among the 4 desktops KDE, GNOME, Xfce and LXDE, LXDE is the least
resource hungry one:

But please use these numbers carefully and don't take them to serious.
Phoronix's tests are known to be doubtful and not really in depth, e.g.
they do not name any details about how they logged in and which apps
were running. If you use GDM as the login manager, you have a whole lot
of GNOME stuff loaded and if you use a GTK+ based benchmark suite inside
of KDE, you need to load additional libs that are already loaded on the
other desktops.
