Let's see, if we get it. Nevertheless as you say - the project will not stop if there is not GSoC LXDE project. Concerning mentors, I am confident we have people available, who are active in the free and open source community. I think mentors could also be other devs who are not LXDE core developers. It is just important that they can support and guide potential students and can allocate time. I am thinking for example of some of the people Andrew just met in Germany.
