I use a program called *gkrellm*. (I installed it for the CPU temperature
monitor when I ran an Ubuntu-based system in the tropics, that constantly
overheated - thanks to Debian I no longer need this :-) ).
It shows a lot of info including a net traffic monitor (a graph of internet
bandwidth) so now I don't need the heavier "gnome-system-monitor" for this
feature.
I was wondering if the code from this could be extracted to make a
lightweight monitor (and hopefully easier to read than the too-crowded
gkrellm display)? Or possibly have the graph incorporated into LXTask, if
the language is compatible?
Just an idea. This function can be very valuable in places with unreliable
internet connections.
