Yes - likewise for Unity Linux (though it hasn't worked well for me, it's an
interesting idea for a distro base that can be built on). It uses PCManFM,
lxpanel and lxappearance.
CrunchBang Linux uses lxsession, and it might return to others such as
PCManFM. When I install CrunchBang (which I'll do soon - finished my
distro-hopping for now) the first things I install are PCManFM (Thunar is
default) and LXPanel (replacing tint2).
(I know that PCManFM isn't quite ready yet, and I keep Thunar as a backup
and for bulk renaming of files. But PCManFM is winner for its lightness,
lack of dependencies and its tabs, and for its ability to read a hard disk
with no fuss even when running from LiveCD.)
Actually, CrunchBang has a similar philosophy to LXDE in terms of being
light and avoiding dependencies, even when it uses different components -
e.g. there's an "Xfce" version which uses Xfwm instead of Openbox, and it
only seems to add about 5 MB or less to RAM usage. I think that Corenominal,
the CrunchBang developer/packager, said that he wanted to show that Xfce
could be light *if* it's done properly. :-)
