Aloha!
First of all: I am new here so pleas be kind ;-)
I would like to propose a little project of mine: VTerminal.
It is a pop-up terminal which behaves like a mix between guake and
awn-terminal.
The general idea is this:
assign a board shortcut (whichever way you prefer) and/or crate a
launcher to launch it. it will then pop up and hide itself whenever it
loses focus, launching it again will bring it back up. it is single
instance so it does not require a daemon to run.
Right clicking will let you open up a settings menu to assign keyboard
shortcuts for various things.

it currently also supports the -d command line flag to open up a new
tab in a specific directory.
this project just started, but is already quite usable.

it was covered at [1] and the code is hosted at [2].
it uses waf to build.

I thought lxde might like a lightweight terminal applet.

best regards,
Bernd Prünster
