Hello,

For some time I was looking for a lightweight terminal
which at the same time would not rely on the X11 core fonts
(which for different reasons are avoidable and painful).

Unfortunately lxterminal does not really fit my expectations
as a lightweight one, event though it is really nice.
It has too much functionality for my needs and for this or for some
other reason it is heavier than would be desired.

I have noticed the existence of uuterm

    http://www.etalabs.net/uuterm.html

and was impressed by its tiny size, the "right for me" feature set
and the look of its font.

It was a matter of very limited changes to make it support the features
which I missed upstream (non-blinking cursor, black-on-white default color).

I talked to the developer to check whether he likes the patches
and whether he is doing further work on uuterm but he seems to be very
busy for the moment.

Wonder if this terminal would fit the bill at least for the minimalistically
inclined part of LXDE users. The only functionality I am missing in uuterm
(and do not have time to add/implement right away) is a possibility to
create a selection.

The terminal is not configurable by the user at all but may be just fine
for (even more than) casual use.

It looks _much_ cheaper in both source, binary and memory footprint to
have several uuterm binaries with different hardwired default
colors or different cursors than a single configurable terminal emulator
like lxterminal. Isn't it insulting? :)

May be somebody here would be motivated to add selection to uuterm
(pasting works but not creating a selection) ?

I have otherwise noticed minor glitches at screen updates with mutt on
uuterm in certain situations, but in general it looks robust enough for
regular work.

Regards,
Rune
