Openbox is so full featured that with few light additional programs I get a 
full featured
desktop. Now we are several dozens to do so, throught the use of Openbox-only
environments.

PCLinuxOS Openbox (Full, Small, Edu, and several spinoffs), Crunchbang, 
Archbang, ArchCTK,
and others I might not know of.

icons ? Now, PCManFM, SpaceFM, and with a little work, iDesk still works.
