Hi,

Some time ago I posted a bug report at the dedicated Bugzilla. I have tried to
make it as
precise as possible and provide steps to reproduce.

Here is the bug report:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3470614&group_id=156956&atid=801864

I can see that many bug reports about PCManFM have been reported:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=156956&atid=801864

and at PCLinuxOS, several members have reported problems about the stability of
icons,
which can disappear after unmounting a peripheral, or even the background
flushing
between the latest setup and a former one:
Bug : bureau sans icônes après un démontage de media -

The worse about this pcmanfm 0.9.10 is that I have noticed the crashes of the
file
manager in 3 different distributions, which are PCLinuxOS, Archlinux, and
Sabayon.
At Archlinux, on the chan fr a buddy has told me it was normal that if the work
was
finished, and one window / one tab only was opened the file manager would quit
once the
peripheral unmounted.

So I tried the following experiences, but it is impossible to get it to keep
still : when
unmount a device, be it an internal partition, or a USB stick. I have tried to
have 2
windows or more opened, 2 windows + 3 tabs opened in the one window where I
unmounted
internal partitions, and I have tried having several partitions mounted and
unmount them
one by one by clicking on the arrow of the icon representing the internal
partition.

I got crash after crash : all windows crashing at same time and all tabs. I re
opened
pcmanfm, and one by one unmounted the other peripherals, then I had to open the
file
manager again and again until the several internal partitions where all
unmounted.

I think this bug is very severe and makes PCManFM unusable, as well as for the
instability of icons and background, as PCManFM is mainly used as a desktop
manager. It
makes the distributions using LXDE and the ones I provide with Openbox +
PCManFM + a few
light apps in a stage where they are barely usable.

I present my apology for posting here, but once I have been told about another
place
where to post, at the #lxde chan, but the mail came back to me undelivered. So
I don't
see another solution than posting here because I don't see any answer brought
to the bug
report I posted which makes it more than 2 months now.

It is also a bit "selfish" because I love using PCManFM, and providing distros
built on
Openbox mainly, and I would like again to be able to provide well working
versions of
PCLinuxOS Openbox. (Small and large). And the French speaking community gets new
volunteers now to remaster PCLinuxOS LXDE to French, and we all would like to
provide the
best versions possible.

So please, consider having a look at these crashes and bugs, and try to fix them
for a next release that might be considered stable, PCManFM being the main
bone in
the LXDE project.

Regards,
Mélodie
