Hey there, don't post much since most of the discussion is miles over my head
and my nonexistent programming ability.

One feature or plugin I'd like but don't know how to write is a semi-smart bulk
file renamer like pyrenamer, only that retains the file extensions (like .jpg
of .tif) of the file being renamed by default since pyrenamer doesn't. This is
something that Dolphin can do, but Nautilus and Windows Explorer can't seem to.

Subject: [Lxde-list] Brain storming: Fully utilize DES-EMA support to enhance
functionality of the filemanager.

Hi list,
Since months ago, PCManFM supports most parts of DES-EMA, the
extension spec proposed by nautilus-actions.
However, it's not utilized at all.
See: http://www.nautilus-actions.org/?q=node/377
With this feature, one can install some customized tools or even
create sub menus for popup menus of the file manager.
For example, you can install a popop menu item for filename encoding
conversion tool.
The spec is very flexible and can even generate dynamic menu items on the fly.
Please do some brain storming and see how new functionality can be
added via file manager extension.
It can be very useful and make the system more usable.
