for appindicator,cant a different one be used if people dont link its
current behavior.

this is why i like KDE,there are multiple launchers to choose from,multiple
panels,multiple taskbars,multiple notification systems.If somebody doesnt
like something,the infrastructure is there for them to do what they please.
