They likely won't work if you are running unstable gentoo. lxpanel 0.8.0 requires dev-libs/keybinder and I hadn't put in the dependency. What's worse, in their war against gtk2, the only keybinder available on portage requires gtk3. If you're on lxde to avoid bloat, you might need to fish out the keybinder-0.2.2 ebuild (linked) and matching source (linked).
