Thanks. I am running debian unstable. It gives Qt version 5.7.x To install the packge you mentioned I'll have to downgrade. I forced the installation with dpkg and tried another 'cmake ..' and 'make' but the libqtxdg package gave the same error output. Perhaps I'll need to downgrade my Qt version in total by downgrading my entire distro to stable or testing just to be sure. then I'll try to rebuild the libqtxdg folder.
