Mate dropped GTK2 support for Engrampa (file-roller). You could fork
it, it's already a very mature profesional-looking app, pretty much
like PCManFM. You just could track engrampa upstream to check for
important changes in handling some file types, and that's it.

deadbeef is a very lightweight music player... modular, which means
its complexity and size can vary.

gnome-mplayer has been abandoned, but it's a very nice app to play
multimedia files.

For engrampa and gnome-mplayer you can remove some unneeded stuff, and
make them even more simple.

This way LXDE will surpass XCFE and Gnome and will rule the DE world..
