btw, this problem also exists on the liveCD which is mighty annoying as you
can basically not check logs if something doesn't work. to repro just boot
the livecd, right click on the desktop while ubiquity is running and try to
open a terminal. that doesn't work for me. Then open firefox/a browser from
the obox's menu and go to file:///var/log/syslog and you'll see a segfault.
I don't know what's up with this as I thought it'd run as the user ubuntu,
which has a shell defined.
