This also happens without --desktop. A simple "pidof pcmanfm" shows only one PID. This is not good, IMO. Why is this a problem? Also, it has to do with how most distros and GNU/Linux components are tying down permissions and security. Whether that makes sense or not is a different discussion, just saying it most likely has nothing to do with pcmanfm itself.
