Yes - the software works by taking the trailing text as a command to perform
a text search on either titles or page body.  So putting a / at the end
'short circuits' that behavior.

And I just checked and the double slash doesn't work in Mozilla either.
So at least things are consistent in lynx.  I was typing in urls into Mozilla
and using environment variables in Unix, which resulted in the unnoticed
difference.
