Neither can I - a stock emacs-21.4 does fail to build on NetBSD when using our make as well as with gmake because they build the intermediate temacs binary with -nostartfiles and the logic to find libgcc is not used (apparently the netbsd.h file eroneously claims there is no such thing on NetBSD). So temacs is not executable. Nothing related to make, as far as I can tell - I'd just call it a broken configure. Maybe someone should feed back pkgsrc changes to the maintainers ;-) But then I'm not sure if this is the problem that the flames here are about.
