The lynx browser has always been
a file browser that can launch editors or .mailcap helper apps; it
doesn't need file/directory creation since a shell already does this.

It is uzed also under MS-DOS and Windows, which by no means directly
have all the interestind functions, although much of their system-call
was modelled on Unix.  DIRED is of interest here, although DOS has "mkdir"
and such.
