I expected as much :-).  As far as I know I have the latest non-beta
version (2.8.5).  I suppose I could try the beta version.

I haven't seen this - but given that it's hard to debug on Windows
without
a debug-executable, and that most problems like the one you're
describing
are not specific to the platform, I'm curious if it can be reproduced in
either a newer copy of lynx or in some environment that can be debugged.

(a quick check with Linux doesn't show this problem, though repeating
it,
sometimes I see a network hiccup of some sort, and sometimes it replies
that I had a blank user-agent string).
