OK, my understanding is you ask more comment in my patch.
Generally speaking, I think the change of configure doesn't need to be
provided because configure is generated by autoconf.
So I'd like to provide the change of configure.[in|ac] only but autoconf
is failed below.
The comments in aclocal.m4 explain -
dnl The autoconf used in Lynx development is GNU autoconf 2.13 or 2.52,
patched
dnl by Thomas Dickey. See your local GNU archives, and this URL:
dnl http://invisible-island.net/autoconf/autoconf.html
We Sun always use the latest autoconf because some of the latest applications
could depend on the latest autoconf.
aside from occasional testing to check compatibility, I haven't seen
any real motivation to use the latest autoconf (which has some annoyances
such as interfering with re-generating "configure" by just running
autoconf, increasing the size of the script by a third, and running much
more slowly ;-)
I'll install autoconf 2.52 and reply this later.
It does need the patch of course (for instance, to provide the
section-headers in the "configure --help" message).
I configure/install the different versions of autoconf using a suffix to
keep them distinct.
