more to the point, I've made diff's for the longstanding changes that I use against 2.61, which work - see ftp directory: ftp://invisible-island.net/autoconf Mar 16 2007 GNU Compressed autoconf-2.57-20030810.patch.gz 36Kb Mar 23 2008 GNU Compressed autoconf-2.60-20061014.patch.gz 15Kb Mar 23 2008 GNU Compressed autoconf-2.61-20080323.patch.gz 22Kb However, it's been quite a while since I've seen any useful bug-fixes in the ongoing saga of auto{conf|make}, and some of the feature changes make the newer versions less useful. One that immediately comes to mind every time I reflect on it is the refusal of the autoconf program to regenerate a script - a real nuisance when modifying autoconf macros. There are other lovely gems scattered about as well (needless incompatibilies, insulting warning messages, etc). I should expand on these in a webpage sometime. -- Thomas E.
