Sorry.  I was just playing around with an XHTML 2.0 DTD that I wrote the
other day and noticed I couldn't view the source code of my example
page:
http://zooplah.farvista.net/en/archive/DTD/xhtml2.xml

It works from "here".  I can send you a copy of the trace from viewing
and toggling, which you might find useful for comparing with your own
configuration.

(offhand, I don't recall any changes that would affect this, at the moment I'm running 2.8.8dev.9 on Debian 5.0).
